Money Conflict Resolution
Money conflict can present itself in many different ways. You may be familiar with financial infidelity: when one or both parties are deceiving about money or incurring debts. Or maybe you and your partner’s values are out of alignment and neither of you can see each other’s point of view. Whatever the presenting issue (or issues) may be, we can work together to understand what it is that’s really going on and find a resolution.
My process is three-fold:
Seek Clarity - Our first step will be to understand the underlying beliefs, thoughts, motivations, and concerns around money.
Take Action - Next, we will work together utilizing tools and therapeutic techniques to address the root concerns.
Do Better to Be Better - Lastly, I provide check-ins to follow up to see your growth and make adjustments where necessary.
Some of the tools for resolution you can expect to use include SMARTchats® cards (Saving Money and Relationships, Together.), HEAR™ commitment conversation skills (Honest, Empathetic, Accountability, Respect), and solution-focused strategies.
Financial Self Care
You’re familiar with the term self care, but likely only in the context of mental or physical wellbeing. Self care is: a hot bubble bath, a fancy seasonal coffee, a meditation practice. In general, self care can be defined as “the practice of taking an active role in protecting one’s own wellbeing and happiness.” In my work I like to bring attention to Financial Self Care. This is the process of creating healthy financial behaviors and boundaries to support one’s overall wellbeing.
My approach to Financial Self Care is unique in that I primarily focus on setting financial boundaries. These boundaries act as guardrails to keep you focused on achieving your financial goals, reducing stress and overwhelm, and giving you the control to manage your finances.
This service is offered for individuals seeking tools and guidance to achieve Financial Wellbeing. I also offer workshops geared specifically toward social workers, employees, financial associations, and universities.
Some of the tools for Financial Self Care that you can expect to use include journaling, grounding exercises, and Shape-ing Your Finances™ program.
